Whangarei Museum and Kiwi House

The Whangarei Museum & Kiwi House at Heritage Park is home to nationally significant taonga Maori and early settler artifacts.

In the 1970's a group of enthusiasts set out to purchase a suitable property to house the district's museum collection. The Clarke family homestead and surrounding farmland was selected. The 56 acre property is now home to the Museum, a nocturnal Kiwi House and 11 special interest clubs, such as the Vintage Farm Machinery club, the Steam and Model Railway club to name just a few.

Special events and exhibitions are scheduled each year, while an upgrade to existing buildings is in the pipeline. Museum staff plan to have the Whangarei Museum and Kiwi House a number 1 visitor stop in the very near future.
