Mai Ora - Te Puia
The sound of the war trumpet at the marae starts the evening. After a traditional Maori welcome and challenge by fierce warriors from the host tribe, you will be entertained with traditional songs, dances and stories. Feast on hangi food steamed-cooked for several hours by hot rocks in the earth. Before you leave, the Whakarewarewa geothermal valley will be lit up and you will be shown the famous geyser, Pohutu.
The Mai Ora evening is a premier cultural experience.
