2ZA: Voice of the Manawatu
Whether you listen to music, sports, news or talkback, radio is essential part of life. Radio 2ZA began broadcasting in Palmerston North on October 10, 1938 and grew to become one of New Zealand's most successful stations. Te Manawa is celebrating 2ZA's 70th birthday with this nostalgic walk through memory lane.
2ZA: Voice of the Manawatu takes us back to a time when the Garners Request Session, Morrie the Mouse, The Hidden Microphone and the Eye in the Sky ruled the airwaves. Recordings of broadcasts feature throughout the exhibition as do photos and stories which reveal just how vital 2ZA was for information and entertainment throughout the Manawatu. And if you ever wondered about the faces behind the voices, 2ZA: Voice of the Manawatu is your chance to see them!
