Five stages along the beautiful Wellington waterfront, will host 35 of New Zealand's best bands and DJ's including: Supergroove, Kora, Opshop, The Black Seeds, Evermore, Tiki, Elemeno-P, Katchafire, Goodnight Nurse, Tahuna Breaks, Streetwise Scarlett, Concord Dawn, Head Like A Hole, State of Mind, WETA, Aural Trash, Fur Patrol, Dick Johnson, The Checks, Tim Phin, The Coshercot Honeys, DJ Spragga (Sola Rosa), Tiger Tones, Manuel Bundy, Bang! Bang! Eche!, Cool Kids Club, Sunshine Sound System and DJ Reno, with more great acts still to be announced.
The Jim Beam Rock Stage in the TSB Band Arena:
Supergroove, Opshop, Evermore, Elemeno-P, Goodnight Nurse and Streetwise Scarlett and the winner of Jim Beam's Band Search who will open the show.
The Cadbury Moro Dub and Roots Stage:
Katchafire, Tahuna Breaks, Tiki, Kora and The Black Seeds.
The Nokia Alternative Stage:
Head like a Hole (who are reforming for the festival after 8 years apart), WETA, Fur Patrol, The Checks, Bang Bang Eche, Tiger Tones and The Coshercot Honeys.
The George FM Electronic Stage:
Concord Dawn and State of Mind, plus some of New Zealand's finest house DJ's including Aural Trash, Dick Johnson, Tim Phin and DJ Spragga from Sola Rosa.
Plus there's still another headline act to be named on each stage!!
The free to the public Wellington City Council Stage features a national 3 on 3 break dancing competition, Manuel Bundy, Sunshine Soundsystem, DJ Reno, Nick D and the Cool Kids Club will go head to head with Dick Johnson.
As well as great music, Homegrown 2009 will feature lots of other cool stuff including: Wellington's best graffiti artists, a breakdancing competition, an international food market, sculptures, art installations, street performers and lots of free stuff. Plus there will also be a merch tent at each stage for the bands.
2008 Vodafone Homegrown early bird tickets sold out in advance and then the entire festival sold out three weeks early resulting in a lot of people missing out on tickets.
