The Orlando Singers Chamber Choir
Orlando Singers Chamber Choir will present an exciting concert of music written to honour the patron saint of music, Saint Cecilia on November 22nd at the St. Luke's Church.
The programme will feature early works by Handel, John Blow and Peter Philips (including a performance of the latter's rarely heard and magnificent 8-part motet, "Cecilia Virgo"), Benjamin Britten's justly famous "Hymn to Saint Cecilia", "Her sacred spirit soars" by American wunderkind Eric Whitacre and a work written especially for the Orlando Singers, "O wondrous light" by William Green.
The Orlando Singers have been in the forefront of Auckland choral music for over 35 years. They present regular concerts in Auckland and further afield, have featured in musical festivals, broadcast regularly for Radio New Zealand and have appeared on television. With a regular membership of twelve musicians, the group augments its numbers once a year to present a larger-scale concert.
