Pao Pao Pao - The World of Maori Music

Toi Māori Aotearoa is proud to announce the line-up of contemporary Māori musicians selected to play at Pao Pao Pao 2008 at the Wellington Town Hall on Friday 31 October.

Talented Kiwi artists: Whirimako Black, Brannigan Kaa, Ariana Tikao, Pacific Curls and Ruia will present a two-hour show that includes stunning vocal performances and a range of musical genres including soul, jazz, reggae and funk all with Māori musical influences.

This year’s line-up includes the winner of APRA’s Maioha Award 2008, Ruia and the first Māori artist to have a waiata in te reo Māori selected as a Top 20 Finalist in the Silver Scroll Awards, Brannigan Kaa.

Event Manager, Ngahiwi Apanui says Pao Pao Pao is a great way to celebrate those artists who have had achieved industry recognition and enjoyed international success.

“We’ve got a line-up that will bring the house down. This is Wellington’s only chance in 2008 to enjoy our best Māori musicians in one hit.”
