Forget Me Not – The Art of Sustainability
This Five Stories High Gallery presents an exhibition to showcase great artistic potential alive today, and recognise those who support taking the action for a better tomorrow.
The exhibition will feature works by: Kahu Scott, Aaron Frater, Vinci Gin-Nen and Aliscia Young.
The Forget-Me-Not flower is a symbol of lost love. Have we lost love for our planet? We can change what we’re doing now to improve our future. We’re addressing the goal of sustainability. We’re talking about achieving a way for us, and our ecosystem, to thrive together.
The forget-me-not flower is a meaningful way to recognise and remember this goal.
Legend has it that in medieval times, a knight and his lady were walking alongside a river. He began picking a posy of flowers, but because of the weight of his armour, he fell into the river. As he was drowning he threw the posy to his loved one and shouted "Forget-me-not". Hence, this is a flower connected with romance and tragic fate.
One of the critical issues of sustainability is the current ‘romantic’ lifestyle of humans. The implication is that society, with its haphazard attitude and growth-associated impacts on ecological support systems, could very well collapse. Remember the knight?
The exhibition is open 3-4pm Wednesdays or by appointment.
