A Day on the Green - Alana Estate

A Day on the Green is a series of outdoor concerts, staged in wineries around New Zealand, combining a quality musical experience with fine wine, food and spectacular location.

Dubbed “The Big Day Out for grown ups" A Day on the Green 2008 will feature entertainment form John Mellencamp with special guests Sheryl Crow and Gin Wigmore.

The world famous singer songwriter has sold nearly 2 million units in Australasia over his outstanding career. John will perform his hits as well as debuting material from his brand new album ‘Life, Death, Love & Freedom’- out through Hear Music and Universal Music on July 12th, 2008.

Mellencamp was inducted earlier this year into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and this past December received the ASCAP Foundation’s Champion Award in recognition of the his outstanding use of music in the service of humanity. He continues to headline the annual Farm Aid event in the USA that he co-founded with Willie Nelson.

American pop-country singer Sheryl Crow will perform her hits such as; ‘All I Wanna Do’, ‘If It Makes You Happy’ plus feature material from her album ‘Detours’ released earlier this year through Universal Music.

Gin Wigmore is a 21 year old New Zealand born singer/songwriter and was the first artist signed to Island Records Australia. Gin has taken her life's ups and downs and crafted songs which speak to an almost universal experience of fear, hope, love and joy. Her debut recording ‘Extended Play’ is available in stores now.

Established in Australia in 2001, ‘A Day on the Green’ offers a quality music experience in a picturesque winery environment. The experience of good food, good wine and great music was warmly embraced on its launch in New Zealand in January, with more than 18,000 people enjoying the first three events headlined by Joe Cocker.
