Caccia Birch House
Caccia Birch House is a Historic Places Trust Category 1 property in the Palmerston North District.
The house is named after the family who gifted the property. The structure and design of the house reflects the influence of its Scandinavian architect Ludolf Georg West.
The property is maintained for the enjoyment of the whole community and for educational and cultural purposes.
The long tree-lined driveway opens to an expansive lawn and lovely gardens overlooking the Hokowhitu Lagoon, which is home to many water fowl and trout. The house features intricate rimu panelling and beautifully decorated rooms. It is well utilised as a venue for conferences and weddings. The CoachHouse stables house information and a pictorial display of the home's history.
Casual visitors are welcomed, by appointment, so as not to disappoint should the house be booked. A number of open days are held on Sundays throughout the year. House and garden tour group bookings are welcomed by arrangement, and morning or afternoon teas or lunches can be catered for.
