While You Were Away
Come into MOTAT and step into the shoes of those left behind to protect New Zealand’s shores during WWI and WWII, with MOTAT’s detailed ‘While You Were Away’ exhibit.
Experience and hear about how these brave New Zealanders kept enemies at bay and succeeded in protecting crucial shores around the country.
Read about the impact of the US soldiers when they arrived in New Zealand during wartime. The charming and personable American men caused quite a stir amongst the Kiwi women!
Not only is MOTAT home to the exhibit ‘While You Were Away’, but Western Springs itself was a home away from home to the Yank soldiers, who had set up camp in the area.
Head into MOTAT this month for a glance at the past!
