Sports Alive!
This month at MOTAT sports fans can step into the rugby boots of their favourite All Black and test the accuracy of their rugby pass, or relive an Irene Van Dyk moment and score the winning goal against the Aussies!
From Monday 19 October visitors to MOTAT can learn and experience the science and technology behind sport, through the New Zealand Science and Technology Centre’s interactive ‘Sports Alive!’ exhibit.
With activities across 10 major sports (rugby, netball, football, cricket, softball, basketball, rowing, athletics, golf and cycling) there is something for everyone, no matter what age or sporting level.
A ‘score card’ activity will have families and friends competing against each other to complete a series of sporting challenges, including a virtual 3D rowing course!
Each activity explains the science and technology behind it, encouraging visitors to shoot more accurately, kick higher, and throw with deadly aim.
Other displays show technological developments in sport over the decades, and skeleton and muscle exhibits which demonstrate the importance of food and exercise in maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
For more information please phone 0800 668 286.
You can enjoy ‘Sports Alive!’ as part of your entry fee to MOTAT. You can also enjoy the rest of the museum, free tram rides and entry to the Tactile Dome and Voyager1 for one great price.
