Lakes District Museum

Set in the historic village of Arrowtown, Lakes District Museum offers a fascinating insight into the history of New Zealand's Southern Lakes District.

A unique variety of exhibits present an authentic picture of early Māori in the southern lakes district, of the harsh pioneering days of the European settlers, and the exciting gold rush era of the mid to late 1800s.

The museum has a book shop, and it is also the Arrowtown Tourism Information Centre. Its gallery hosts changing displays of artwork and special exhibitions, and research/archive facilities are also available.
