Gisborne District Council
The Gisborne Region covers a land area of 8,265 square kilometres on the eastern coast of the North island of New Zealand. This is approximately 4.9% of New Zealand's total land area. The region stretches from just north of Morere thermal springs and Mahia Peninsular in the south to include the East Cape and Potaka township to the east of Opotiki.
The region is administered by the Gisborne District Council, which is a unitary authority, having the functions of both a Regional and District Council. The council delivers essential services and facilities to the district including roads, water and rubbish disposal.
