Must be a fully qualified, practicing Primary, Intermediate or Secondary Teacher.

* To recognise and inspire an outstanding educator to continue his/her environmental work.
* To encourage student engagement and participation in that work during the term of the award
* Immediate connection of students with our natural world and its issues through real experience and media
* The development of on-line or other resources to further the work.
History
Sir Peter Blake was passionate and committed to delivering the message that the earth is a unique and beautiful place The award was set up in 2005 in partnership with the Sir Peter Blake Trust and the Ministry of Education. The award is administered and managed by the Royal Society of New Zealand.

Decision process
Decision makers
A Selection Panel, comprising members from the Sir Peter Blake Trust, the Ministry of Education, and the New Zealand Association of Environmental Educators. The decision of the Selection Panel must then be ratified by the Board of the Sir Peter Blake Trust.
Notification
The normal conditions of employment of the host organisation(s), including holdiays, shall apply to the awardee except where otherwise negotiated between the awardee and the host organisation(s)
*application numbers will be allocated by the Royal Society on receipt of an application.
Conditions of acceptance
The award will be terminated under the following conditions:
* non-compliance with the conditions of the Award
* The Royal Society or the Sir Peter Blake Trust is not satisfied that the awardees is diligently carrying out the
programme
* the awardee fails to pursue the programme.
The Royal Society and the Sir Peter Blake Trust may place the award in abeyance due to:
* ill health
* parental leave
* compassionate leave
* insufficient Ministry of Education Sir Peter Blake Trust funds
* any other unusual or unforseen circumstances.

Additional information
All awardees will submit a final report to the Royal Society and the Sir Peter Blake Trust upon completion of the programme identifying the achievements and benefits of the award to the teacher, the school, the host organisation(s) and the wider community. The report is to be based on the programme objectives. Awardees will also submit a brief mid-year report in July. The awardee is requested, at this time, to provide an additional 1 page summary report with two original photographs of the awardee taking part in some activity during the programme. This will be used for promotion of the award. The awardee should submit copies of any papers or publications produced or publicity received in the course of the award to the:
