How do I search?
Search for events, organisations and links at the top of the page. You will see search boxes where you can enter keywords. Depending on the section, you will see some combination of the following boxes: What, When, and Where.
Type your keywords into the relevant boxes. As you type, the search will make suggestions below. Click on a suggestion to enter that keyword in the search box. You do not have to enter information in all the boxes.
When you are ready, click Search Now. You will receive a list of entries related to your search keywords.
Another way to find information is to browse the website by clicking on the topic headings or categories on the left-hand side of the page.
A third way to search the website is to click on topics in the tag cloud at the bottom of the page. Each tag cloud relates to the page you are on (for example, events). The tag cloud includes the fifty most recently popular tags that have been applied to entries on the website. The largest tags are the most popular.
Back to topDo I use macrons when I search?
You can search with or without macrons. It will not affect your search results.
Back to topHow do I see information in te reo Māori?
At the upper right-hand side of the screen you’ll see links that say English and Māori. Click on the language you want.
The following things are available in te reo Māori: the events, organisations and links on the left-hand side of the page, the categories and subcategories for browsing, the My NZLive headings, and headings for things like the news and polls.
Because our event and organisation listings can change quite frequently, we’re unable to have all of those translated into te reo Māori. However, events submitted in te reo will appear in te reo.
Back to topHow do I use tags?
Tags are keywords that are used to describe an event, organisation, article, or link. At the bottom of each page there is a cluster of words called a tag cloud. Each event, organisation and link has been given a number of tags. The tag cloud includes the 50 most recently popular tags. If a tag has been used a lot, it will appear larger than other tags.
Click on a tag to see events, organisations or links that share that tag.
NZLive.com's tags are chosen by the NZLive.com team and by organisations that contribute to the site.

Back to topWhat sorts of events are included?
NZLive.com focuses on events related to New Zealand culture and recreation. That includes a wide variety of things, such as performances, exhibitions, music, NZ films, national and regional sport, festivals and major community events, tramping tracks and more.
The site doesn’t include things like trade shows, screenings of non-NZ films, religious services, local club events or school events for local audiences. The overall focus is on national and regional events.
Back to topHow do I get an RSS feed of events?
See our 'What is RSS?' page for details.
Back to topWhat are the ICAL and OUTLOOK links?
The ICAL and OUTLOOK links allow you to copy an event directly to your Macintosh iCal calendar or your Windows Outlook calendar. This saves you from having to cut and paste or type the information yourself.
These links appear with all events except for those that are always on or where the event has set hours, such as a museum, zoo, or gallery.
To copy an event to your calendar, click on the ICAL or OUTLOOK link and save the event.
