Evoking the 18th Century Works from the Dunedin Public Art Gallery Collection
The exhibition features works from the Dunedin Public Art Gallery's permanent collection, including paintings by Thomas Gainsborough, Claude Lorrain, Allan Ramsay and Sir Joshua Reynolds, in addition to Adam and Chippendale style period furniture. The exhibition aims to highlight the intellectual and aesthetic interests of 18th-century collectors and designers.
Furniture, ceramics, sculpture, paintings and works on paper are combined to evoke the mood of an English 18th-century interior and gesture towards the art of an Italian Grand Tour.
