Destination Manawatu

Destination Manawatu is the Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) responsible for economic development, from a tourism perspective, of the Manawatu region.

Destination Manawatu's core business focus is to increase the number of visitors to the Manawatu region by conventions development, (including conference and event facilitation and coordination), and the development of the leisure tourism sector.

Through i-SITE Palmerston North and Feilding and District Information Centre, we service the local community and visitors to our region with a wide range of services including transport bookings for rail, bus and ferry, accommodation bookings and options for activities and attractions in Palmerston North and the Manawatu district.

Come on a journey to Manawatu - your gateway to New Zealand culture and the beautiful North Island, New Zealand. Conveniently located half way between Rotorua and Wellington, our region combines the charm of rural New Zealand with the sophisticated provincial appeal of Palmerston North city (affectionately known as Palmy).

The landscape sweeps dramatically from the Ruahine and Tararua mountain ranges, through the spectacular Manawatu Gorge and picturesque Pohangina Valley, along Manawatu River to the coastal plains of Tangimoana and Himatangi. The region enjoys a mild climate, providing fantastic growing conditions for the many public, world-class gardens.

Manawatu is easy to access and easy to navigate with Palmerston North International Airport open 99.97% of the year (due to favourable weather conditions), and located just 5.5km from the CBD of Palmerston North.
