Deaf Association of New Zealand Incorporated
Formed in November 1977, the Deaf Association actively provides services to approximately 2500 deaf people in New Zealand.
The organisation started providing services when it opened its first office in Auckland in 1980. Now there are eleven offices nationwide and one outreach service.
The Association is unique in the fact that its governing body is ruled by elected deaf members of the deaf community. It is also the only nationwide provider of services to deaf people. Deaf range from at least 7,000 to a possible 10,000 in New Zealand. We pride ourselves in providing services for the Deaf Community, including interpreter services, support in employment & vocational training programmes.
