Dan Davin Literary Foundation

The Dan Davin Literary Foundation is a charitable organisation which works to promote and support creative writing in Southland.

On an annual basis the Foundation invites a New Zealand author to Southland to host a series of creative writing workshops for year 12 and 13 students. This is then followed by the Dan Davin Award - a short story competition open to these same students.

In 2008 the Foundation worked with the Invercargill City Libraries to host the first Readers and Writers Alive! programme, a series of literary related events involving authors and poets from around New Zealand.
