Tour of Radio New Zealand Sound Archives
Sound Archives Nga Taonga Korero is New Zealand's only specialist radio archive, responsible for collecting, preserving and providing access to the nation's recorded radio heritage. The archive is based in the former 'Kent House', home to Christchurch radio stations 3ZB, 3ZM, 3YA and 3YC in the 1970s.
A unique feature of the building is the old 1ZB 'circular' studio window. We also hold pictures of other studios and of former transmission site, Gebbies Pass, one of only a handful of high-powered sites set up by the Broadcasting Board in the late 1930s. Audio will complement the tour.
