Zephyr with Diedre Irons - Invercargill

Combine the five principal wind players from the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra with Diedre Irons, one of our most revered pianists, and the result is an ensemble brimming with character and energy.

“Isolating the lovely part of the orchestra”, is how horn player Ed Allen describes the wind quintet combination and the unique sound that has inspired so many composers to explore their ‘lighter side’. The addition of the piano enhances the individual timbres, and expands the aural palette of harmonies and textures, but also provides a backdrop which blends the sounds together.
