Auckland Chamber Orchestra (ACO)
ACO concerts are an exciting, intimate and collegial occasion.
Experience the fine players of the orchestra under the direction of Peter Scholes in the excellent acoustics of the Concert Chamber, Auckland Town Hall, The ACO enriches Auckland's musical life by presenting a series of fine music concerts with high calibre soloists. The sound of the chamber orchestra is clear and transparent enabling the listener to hear all the layers of the music. This is a professional orchestra which employs Auckland's best musicians and engages fine soloists.
The ACO repertoire includes baroque, classical, romantic, 20th century and contemporary music.
Since it was founded in 1999, the ACO has performed in the Concert Chamber, Auckland Town Hall, The Edge, a venue that offers the perfect ambience for classical music. The orchestra presents an exciting variety of music that showcases the talents of the players and the soloists. Programming exploits the many different instrumental combinations from mixed ensembles through to string orchestra and chamber orchestra.
The ACO shows unprecedented support for New Zealand music John Rimmer's “The Ring of Fire” and “The Man from Olympus” and gives an insight into the creative process and the richness and variety that is New Zealand music.
