Calling all artists! Entries are now open for 17th Annual Wallace Art Awards 2008 and you’ve got until 5pm on 7 August 2008 to get your entries in. These prestigious awards, run by The James Wallace Arts Trust, are now in their 17th year. This year the judges are Linda Tyler, Dick Frizzell and the 2007 winner James Robinson (see image).

As well as exhibitions of selected finalists and the winners in Auckland and Wellington, there is a range of prizes:

Paramount Award
A 6 months residency at the International Studio and Curatorial Program in New York including airfares ($38,000)

Park Lane Wallace Development Award
A 3 months residency at the Vermont Studio Centre in the United States including airfares ($18,000)

Kaipara Foundation Wallace Award
A 3 months residency at the Altes Spital in Solothurn, Switzerland including airfares ($20,000+)

There are also two Runners Up Awards ($2,000 each), a People’s Choice Award ($500) and a special Jury Award (no moolah).
