What is web 2.0?
May 16th, 2007Here’s something that might answer this question.
[If you have trouble viewing this video, see it here at YouTube.] If that video doesn’t make much sense, here’s another (which actually provoked the making of the first) that cogently explains the genesis of and philosophy behind web 2.0.
To me, web 2.0 is about the technology, for sure. This means sharing data (RSS, podcasts and such), social networking (wikis, blogs and other ways to open dialogue) and a certain kind of application development (mashups that blend services and widgets that can be integrated into other websites)./
But it’s also about an attitude and an approach - putting this technology to work for our customers, and treating our users as contributors and collaborators.
Here’s a short, practical and relevant article that explains some of the ’social media’ that are at the heart of web 2.0, and how organisations can put these tools to work for their users.
