News you can use from the world of funding … Entries are open for the Sponsorship of the Arts Awards 2007. The awards acknowledge partnerships between business and the arts that demonstrate a creativity, commitment and vision, as well as business benefits. Companies who have sponsored an arts event or organisation in the year to June 2007 have until 7 June to enter.

ASB Community Trust, which grants $45m to community groups in Auckland and Northland regions each year, has decided to set annual closing dates for when it will accept grant applications.

The new closing dates are:

• marae/community economic development/health and social services - Feb 1 and July 1
• arts and culture - April 1 and Sept 1
• sport and recreation/community facilities - May 1 and Oct 1
• environment and heritage/education - June 1 and Nov 1
• major capital projects - Sept 1

Applications are invited for the Recollets - artist residencies in Paris. This prestigious programme is open to 25 established artists of all artistic disciplines whose work has been featured overseas. As well as accommodation, the residency includes an income of around $3000 per month (for a maximum of three months). Selected artists receive valuable institutional support - a big foot in the door of the French cultural network. The closing date for applications is 15 June.

If you are searching under project category for, say, ’film’, the search results will provide records that specifically mention funding film projects. To find sources of funding for arts generally - which may well include funding for film projects - search under the category ‘arts general’.
